The United States Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Northern District of Indiana covers 32 counties in the northern half of the State of Indiana. The district has three divisions: Fort Wayne, Hammond and South Bend.
The United States Probation and Pretrial Services Office serves eight Article III judges and five magistrate judges, handling hundreds of new criminal cases per year. There are hundreds of individuals under supervision. Each year, approximately several hundred pretrial and presentence investigations are completed.
Other agencies with which the office interacts include but are not limited to, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the U.S. Marshal Service, the Federal Defenders Office, treatment providers, employers, and a number of federal investigative agencies.
The United States Probation and Pretrial Services Office serves as a component of the Judicial Branch of the United States Government.
